We've invested in a wide range of practical facilities, developed with real industry in mind to help you build essential skills and gain hands-on experience of what working in your chosen sector will really be like.
We're also located in the middle of the city's business and hotel district, meaning there are plenty of opportunities for real-life work experience and placements on your doorstep.

Summer Row
Birmingham B3 1JB
Summer Row is the central home of our college courses, located by the busy Colmore business district. First opened in 1968 and previously known as the Birmingham College of Food and Domestic Arts, it holds many state-of-the-art training facilities for students on our food and hospitality, aviation, early years, healthcare, beauty and hairdressing courses.
The building features a large café and salad bar located on the fifth floor, while on the ground floor you'll find our popular Cakes & Bakes shop, selling baked goods and confectionery made by our students. It's also the home of our award-winning training restaurant, the Restaurant at Birmingham College of Food.

Training restaurant
Our world-renowned training restaurant at Summer Row provides the perfect training ground for students on our food and hospitality courses.
The award-winning Restaurant at Birmingham College of Food (formerly The Atrium and The Brasserie) has a fantastic reputation among professionals and the public, offering exceptional à la carte dishes alongside a great value set menu. It's also an ideal environment for our students to get hands-on industry experience working in kitchens and front of house.

Kitchen facilities
University College Birmingham's outstanding reputation for culinary training is backed up by nine industry-standard kitchens at our Summer Row site, enabling you to master your practical food skills in a truly professional environment.
The kitchens are used regularly for high-profile culinary competitions, including Michel Roux Jr's annual scholarship contest and the British Culinary Federation Chef of the Year finals, as well as Team England's preparations for the Bocuse d'Or.

Bakery and confectionery
University College Birmingham's bakery and product development labs at Summer Row offer the ideal environment for students learning baking and confectionery.
Our facilities include everything from the latest industrial ovens, high-speed mixers and laser volume measuring to specialist equipment for chocolate production, tempering, and dough and flour rheology testing.
You'll even get the chance to have your creations up for sale on the shelves at our Cakes & Bakes shop. Located on the ground floor of Summer Row, it sells a wide range of breads and baked products made by our students.

Aviation and Tourism Suite
The Aviation and Tourism Suite at Summer Row features exciting simulation facilities for students on our aviation and tourism courses to help you take off towards your dream career.
At the heart of the suite is our state-of-the-art mock plane cabin, while there are also check-in and security areas to support your practical training.

Treatment Rooms
Offering a range of traditional hair and beauty services alongside advanced aesthetic treatments, the Treatment Rooms provides an excellent training environment for students on our courses in beauty, make-up and hairdressing.

Health simulation suite
Our Health Simulation Suite at Summer Row provides state-of-the-art facilities for students on our college health and social care courses.
The suite provides a realistic working environment designed to help you develop key practical and technical skills that support employers.




Early years simulation suite
Our early years simulation and practice development suite provides an outstanding learning environment for students on our college education and childcare courses.
The suite features five different learning zones – Creative, Digital, Discovery, Imagination and Sensory – reflecting the diversity of practice in the sector to boost your experience before you complete your studies.

Gym and sports facilities
College students have access to our dedicated FE gym in Summer Row. It's free to use and our team of qualified instructors can help you whether you are a beginner or an avid gym-goer.
Students on our college sports courses also have access to our sports injury clinics, which are open to the public and provide opportunities for students to develop their sports massage skills.

Summer Row Library
If you want to find a quiet space to study while you're on campus, our college students have exclusive access to a library at Summer Row. The library is located on the sixth floor, and is where you'll find all the key textbooks for our further education courses.
(Note: You can also visit our main library at our Baskerville House campus building.)

Café
Need somewhere to get a drink, grab a bite to eat, or simply take a break? Head to the fifth floor of Summer Row, where you'll find a large café and salad bar.
Open to all students at University College Birmingham, the café serves a wide variety of hot and cold food and drinks throughout the day.

Camden House
Parade, Birmingham B1 3PY
Our Camden House building is just a few minutes' walk down the road from our main Summer Row college campus.
Camden House East holds a range of facilities supporting innovation and hands-on learning across engineering, construction and IT, preparing students for the demands of today's evolving industries. Meanwhile Camden House West is our dedicated Sixth Form Centre for students on our A-level courses.

Engineering facilities
Camden House East is where students on our engineering college courses will find our cutting-edge laboratories, including a robotics lab and Engineering 4.0 lab.
Our facilities feature a range of training rigs, production line technology, process manufacturing equipment and renewable energy simulators, as well as equipment for learning about hydraulics, pneumatics, mechatronics automation, fluid dynamics and MATLAB design software.



Computing facilities
Camden House houses computers available for students on our further education courses, as well as a dedicated IT support service helpdesk located on the ground floor.

Camden House Café
Camden House has its own café area offering a selection of food and drink, providing an additional space where you can grab some refreshments, take a break and meet up with friends.
The café is situated on the first floor of the building and is open to all University College Birmingham students.

James Cond
Holland Street, Birmingham B3 1QH
A former printworks based in Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter, this art deco building has been transformed into our Centre for Sustainable Construction, breathing new life into an iconic structure while ensuring sustainability and energy efficiency were thoughtfully integrated.
The building is equipped with solar panels, air source heat pump technology, automated lighting controls and a QuadCore insulated roof, ensuring students on our construction courses learn within an environment centred around sustainable methods of construction.






Construction facilities
James Cond provides facilities and equipment for our students on courses including construction, engineering, electrical installation, bricklaying, building services, carpentry and plumbing. The building also features a dedicated green technologies room.
Our facilities enable students to develop key skills that support employers and supply chains, helping train the next generation in the city to design, build and maintain buildings in a way that will ensure both their longevity and the continuing development of a sustainably-minded future workforce.




The Link
65-77 Summer Row, Birmingham B3 1JJ
Standing next to the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal line, The Link is located between our Camden House and Summer Row campus buildings.
The building features a bright modern design with state-of-the-art equipment and teaching spaces. It houses our psychology and digital CISCO labs, as well as IT services and reprographics.




Baskerville House
2 Centenary Square, Birmingham, B1 2ND
Located next to the famous Library of Birmingham, Baskerville House is a Grade II-listed building in Centenary Square.
The building houses a variety of support services you may need during your time with us, including the Academic Skills Centre and our HIRED careers, placements and employability team. It is also home to our library and features a range of quiet study spaces.



Moss House and McIntyre House
Holland Street, Birmingham
Located opposite the James Cond building, these campuses are exclusively for university-level students on our undergraduate and postgraduate courses at University College Birmingham.
This is where you will be studying if you choose to progress from college level onto higher education with us, featuring additional specialist training facilities for business, health and sport.
