Getting a taste for her degree
Aneela’s time studying for her foundation diploma convinced her to take the next step, and top up to a degree with a third year at University College Birmingham.
“I originally chose UCB as it was recommended by my college teachers. A lot of their students had moved into university study here and loved it,” she said.
“I was really interested in tourism marketing it seemed an ideal step for me, and after my foundation years I wanted to progress and achieve a full degree.”
Once on her course, Aneela was eager to grab every opportunity made available to her:
“We had an amazing residential trip to York and Scotland where we visited a lot of attractions to see how they operated, which really helped put our learning into practice,” she said.
“There’s also an incredible amount of support available to us. Lecturers are always more than happy to go above and beyond to help you out, and the Kick-start funds have been really useful for everything from course materials to food.”
“I’m interested in marketing or hotel management for my future career, but I feel like I’ve gained much more of an insight by completing my degree.”
