"I teach Leadership skills to our healthcare students - a subject that I find incredibly rewarding because it offers something fresh and practical to future health practitioners. Leadership is very often overlooked as a topic in our sector - but it’s so important."

I’m a dedicated educator with a rich background of experience within healthcare and education, both here in the UK and abroad. My diverse experiences have shaped my knowledge and skills to support my role.
I teach Leadership within health care across several apprenticeship courses offered by UCB, a subject that I find incredibly rewarding because it offers something fresh and practical to students in healthcare - it’s very often overlooked, but it’s so important. Many students worry initially that they’ll never be able to lead a team; however, I firmly believe everyone can lead. Leadership success comes from understanding your own style and building confidence. Watching my students apply leadership theories to their everyday healthcare roles is one of the most fulfilling parts of my work.

One of the proudest moments in my career was receiving an Honorary Professorship and Fellowship from UCB, recognising my work developing nursing pathways within apprenticeships. I’m honoured to be an Apprenticeship Champion, having been highly recommended at the National Apprenticeship Awards, and I was also proud to receive the Partnership Excellence Award from Wolverhampton University.
My connection to UCB runs deep, as I started here at sixteen years old, working towards my Nursery Nursing qualification. Returning to teach here is a point of pride for me, and it feels like I’m coming full circle. UCB is a place that embraces change, adapts quickly to sector needs, and values every student’s unique talents.
Outside of my academic and professional life, I volunteer with English Heritage at a local Roman site and fundraise for cancer research.
Something that people may not know about me is that I can play several musical instruments, but have never learnt to read music. Aged five, I won a talent contest for my playing of ‘Amazing Grace’ on the piano.
My personal mantra is taken from the sports brand Nike - “Just do it!”
