BSc Software Engineering, PGCE Secondary Computing & ICT

"Computing is so much more than coding; there are countless fascinating avenues to explore within the field, and you certainly don’t have to be a coding genius to find your place or excel."

I bring expertise in networking, computer systems, big data, research, and security to my teaching on the BSc Computer Science, BSc Cyber Security, and Access to Computer Science courses.

Before progressing to higher education, I taught Computer Science and Information Communication Technology (ICT) at secondary school level. This experience honed my ability to design engaging content for diverse learner needs. As an educator, I’m inspired every day by the new skills we collectively uncover.

I’m committed to creating an inclusive, positive classroom atmosphere where all students feel empowered to participate, share ideas, and develop the technical and critical-thinking skills needed for today’s professional world. Students regularly remark on the clear support and direction they receive from me, as well as the welcoming environment that encourages everyone to engage.

Not many people realise that computing is so much more than coding. There are countless fascinating avenues to explore within the field, and you don’t have to be a coding genius to find your place or excel.

From a personal point of view, I’m particularly proud of my ongoing academic journey, and I’m now working towards completing my MSc in Advanced Computer Networking. After that, I’m planning to progress to a PhD focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) in education.

Working at UCB is a true point of pride for me. I’m from Birmingham, and so being part of UCB is both a professional achievement and a personal dream realised.

Beyond my academic work, I’m known for my sense of humour. My core advice to students: stay focused, never hesitate to ask for support, and always remember - compromise for your dream, but never compromise on your dream!
