"Before joining UCB, I spent more than 18 years teaching in higher education overseas, balancing my academic role with active involvement in marketing research. I developed research frameworks, designed research instruments, pitched to clients, managed negotiations, and presented reports."

I bring a deep and practical expertise in nation branding, strategic marketing, international marketing, marketing communication, and services marketing to my teaching at UCB.

Before joining UCB in July 2023, I spent more than 18 years teaching in higher education overseas. Throughout that period, I balanced my academic role with active involvement in marketing research, leading multidisciplinary teams. My responsibilities stretched from developing conceptual research frameworks and designing research instruments to pitching to clients, managing negotiations, and presenting reports. Much of our research focused on customer satisfaction and brand equity measurement projects across a range of industries.

My insights are also shaped by eight years of experience as a marketing communications programme manager in the non-profit sector, enabling me to share a wealth of real-world applications in marketing communications and research with my UCB students. I’m a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and have full membership of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), and I have contributed to published papers in journals such as ‘Theoretical and Empirical Researchers in Urban Management’.

I’m inspired by seeing the power of marketing frameworks, models, and concepts put into practice in order to inform marketing decisions. A common misconception is that marketing is simply about promotion, sales, or advertising. In truth, it’s the vital groundwork that helps organisations understand their customers and deliver real value.

What I most enjoy about teaching at UCB is the opportunity to empower students with the knowledge that they need to achieve their ambitions. Students here are typically culturally and internationally diverse, with a strong appetite for learning, and these were strong motivators for me in choosing to teach here. Students appreciate my clear and detailed explanations of concepts and frameworks in class, and I encourage them to take their studies seriously right from the first lecture.

Outside of work, I enjoy exploring how non-profit organisations apply marketing concepts in impactful ways. My favourite motto is: “diversity enriches the human race”.
