"With nearly two decades of industry experience, including management roles at Best Western, Premier Inn, and IHG, I bring real-world stories and practical insights directly to the classroom."

With nearly two decades of industry experience, I’ve worked in management roles for Best Western Hotels, Premier Inn, and InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) in both Zimbabwe and the UK. I also ran an events decor and hiring business. These real-world experiences help me bring theory to life in the classroom at UCB, sharing stories and practical insights that make learning engaging and relevant.

I teach on both undergraduate and postgraduate courses here at UCB, covering modules such as Digital, Social and Integrated Campaign Management, Innovative Enterprise, and Marketing for Events, Hospitality, and Tourism. I especially enjoy the diversity that comes from teaching here. There’s an incredibly supportive team within our department, and students have access to best-in-class industry connections. I love that I have the opportunity to use technology in my teaching, and it’s always my priority to create a friendly, supportive environment for students. If things get tough, I remind students that reconnecting with their purpose – why they started studying in the first place – will keep them motivated and moving forward.

I’ve had the privilege of presenting my research at national and international conferences, including the Council for Hospitality Management Education (CHME) conference and the ‘Beyond Futures - Festival of Research & Innovation’, where I was awarded runner-up for best poster presentation. I’m also proud to be a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a member of the Institute of Hospitality, and to have taught in Hong Kong as well as here in the UK.

In my free time, I love travelling and attending gospel music concerts. As well as English, I speak Shona – a Zimbabwean dialect. My favourite quote comes from Ralph Waldo Emerson: “Do not follow where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and make a trail.”
