Academic qualifications

BSc (Hons) Sport Therapy and Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Vocational Education

"I’ve worked with British Athletics, supported elite players at Aston Villa Ladies Football Club, in semi-professional football, and I currently run my own business in sport and exercise treatment and recovery."

I bring over a decade of hands-on experience and expertise across sport and exercise science, anatomy, physiotherapy, and injury recovery. I teach FE Level 3 Sport and Exercise Science at UCB, drawing continually on my real-world background to connect classroom theory with the demands and rewards of professional practice. I’m passionate about ensuring that students learn not just from textbooks, but also from authentic examples of what works in the world of sport today.

My own professional journey spans working with British Athletics, seven years in semi-professional football, and time spent supporting elite players at Aston Villa Ladies Football Club. These roles, alongside running my own business in sport and exercise treatment and recovery, keep me current with evolving industry standards and up-to-date techniques. I hold several specialist qualifications, including ITEC Level 4 Sports Massage, Dry Needling, and Spinal Manipulation.

What inspires me is the transformative power of sport and how it can build confidence, instill resilience, and foster genuine personal growth. I take immense satisfaction from guiding students as they realise their potential, whether that’s overcoming setbacks, mastering a new skill, or discovering their own strengths as part of a team. For me, sport is a powerful platform for life lessons that extend far beyond physical ability.

A misconception that I often address is that sporting success is reserved for the “naturally gifted”. In truth, sport belongs to everyone. I encourage all of my students to approach learning as an opportunity to develop, whatever their starting point.

For me, teaching at UCB means being part of a vibrant, inclusive environment where students’ ambition and diversity make for truly dynamic learning. UCB’s commitment to blending industry relevance with strong personal support shaped my decision to teach here, and I find it consistently rewarding to watch students develop in confidence, skill, and independence.
