"I overcame significant challenges in my own early Nursing career - studying for a degree with dyslexia, and practising during the Covid-19 pandemic. These experiences enable me to support students and reassure them that persistence pays off.."

I’m a Registered Nurse with the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council), passionate about enhancing the student experience, wellbeing, and clinical education for the next generation of nurses.
My professional background as a Community Nurse and Clinical Educator means that I bring real-world insight to my teaching, benefitting students who are preparing for the Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship. As a Clinical Educator and Professional Nurse Advocate, I focus on promoting reflective practice, resilience, and professional growth to ensure that my students are not only clinically skilled but also emotionally equipped for the demands of the profession. I readily share my experiences from dealing with complex case management, interdisciplinary teams, and the realities of community-based care, helping students to link theory to practical skills.
My nursing journey wasn't easy - I'm dyslexic, which made studying for my degree a real challenge, but that made graduating all the more gratifying! I also started my career in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, which was another hurdle. These experiences have made me especially proud of what I've accomplished and allow me to empathise with students facing their own challenges, reassuring them that persistence truly pays off.

I value our inclusive environment here at UCB - people from all backgrounds are welcomed, and we’re lucky to have a supportive space for learning and growth. Each student brings something unique to the table, and I strive to celebrate those differences in the classroom.
One of my proudest achievements was being nominated for ‘Best Personal Tutor’ and ‘Inspirational Teacher’ as part of UCB’s ‘Spotlight on’ awards.
Recently, I have started attending the gym, which has given me a new sense of focus and balance outside of work—something I encourage my students to seek for themselves. Away from nursing, I hold a qualification in Performing Arts, reminding me that creativity and self-expression are important for wellbeing.
One of my guiding philosophies comes from a favourite quote: “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s learning to dance in the rain.” This perfectly captures my approach to nursing, teaching, and personal growth. I aim to instill the same resilience and positivity in my students as they embark on their own journeys.
