"Inspired by my own experience as the first girl in my family to attend college, I'm dedicated to widening participation in technology and supporting women from underrepresented backgrounds in pursuing academic careers."

I’m passionate about harnessing technology to create inclusive, forward-thinking learning environments. I’ve been privileged to play a strategic role in transforming our Computing and Digital Technologies department, growing it from just 18 students to nearly 800, and building a curriculum that’s as dynamic and diverse as the digital landscape itself.
My academic journey began with a deep sense of purpose, inspired by my own experience as the first girl in my family to attend college in Pakistan. This experience continues to inform my dedication to widening participation in technology.
My core expertise lies in leading the design, validation, and constant evolution of digital and computing programmes across both Further and Higher Education. I believe that a thriving curriculum can’t exist in isolation, which is why I’m a strong advocate for knowledge exchange and active partnership with industry, policymakers, and the wider community.

Working closely with my team, I’ve led employer engagement initiatives and co-designed curriculum through impactful collaborations, ranging from CyberFirst and WorldSkills UK to digital inclusion projects that bring hands-on opportunities directly into classrooms.
Having navigated the unique challenges of being a woman in tech, I’m committed to supporting other women, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds, in pursuing academic careers and leadership in digital fields. Whether I’m advising students, running digital awareness workshops for schoolchildren, or contributing to initiatives that break down barriers to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) careers, my goal is always to see every learner grow in confidence, skills, and ambition.
I’m honoured to have been recognised for my work, with Outstanding Teacher Awards at NEW College, UCB’s ‘Spotlight on Great Teaching’ awards (winner for Inspirational Teaching 2022, and multiple nominations across Student Experience, Outstanding Feedback, and Personal Tutor), and recent nominations and shortlisting for the Women in Tech Awards 2025.
My advice to students is simple: believe in your potential, stay determined even when the path is uncertain, and remember that your background doesn’t define your limits.
Outside of work, I find peace in gardening, and I enjoy challenging myself by developing my public speaking skills.
