I have been an Assistant Dean at University College Birmingham since 2004, having previously spent nearly six years as a chef lecturer in the 1990s. My responsibilities include the oversight and management of all kitchens, timetabling and management of staff, recruitment, enrolment, induction, attendance and discipline of all FE students. I also organise the activity/employability weeks and Young Chefs Academy with the placement officer.
Maintaining strong links with industry is an instrumental part of my role as well as arranging major culinary competitions throughout the college year. I also assist the College of Food and Hospitality Management competition team wherever needed.
I am active in teaching in both the Brasserie kitchen and fine dining Atrium lunch productions with NVQ Professional Chefs studying at Levels 2 and 3, as well as the foundation year of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts (RACA) Apprenticeship programme. I also cover lectures as required.
Representing the College of Food and Hospitality Management at various events in both education and industry as an ambassador.
Ambassador for UCB and organising enrichment for students and major culinary competitions
