"My work as a Strength and Conditioning Coach in the private sector allows me to bring real-world examples into my classes, making the science and theory of training truly come alive for students."

I’m a certified Strength and Conditioning Coach, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and an EXOS Performance Specialist. My expertise covers anatomy for strength and conditioning, programme design, isometric strength training, and neuromuscular training. I teach on our Strength, Conditioning and Sports Nutrition and MSc Strength, Conditioning and Performance courses, where I focus on making the science and theory of training truly come alive for students.
My industry experience includes working as a Strength and Conditioning Coach in the private sector and at Warwick School. These roles have given me a wealth of practical knowledge, which I bring directly into the classroom. I’m passionate about connecting concepts and theories to real-life scenarios, helping students see exactly how what they learn applies out in the world.

What inspires me most is watching athletes succeed; seeing them become stronger, faster, and more resilient, and knowing that I’ve played a part in their journey. It’s equally rewarding to pass on that knowledge to the next generation of coaches, watching students grow in confidence and skill as they progress through their studies. I’m as proud when I see my athletes win trophies as when I watch students graduate, knowing that they’ve developed into capable practitioners ready to work in the industry.
A common misconception about strength and conditioning is that it’s just about lifting weights. In reality, it’s so much more, encompassing everything from anatomy and neuromuscular training to tailored programme design. My advice to anyone studying strength and conditioning is simple: put everything you learn into practice. Applying concepts in real situations is the best way to truly understand the field and to prepare for a successful career.
I really value the small class sizes here at UCB, as they allow me to build strong personal connections with students. We create a supportive environment in which everyone can thrive and develop their skills. Students often tell me they appreciate seeing theories put into practice during my classes, and the clear links I make back to the industry.
When I’m not training or teaching, you might find me watching The Lincoln Lawyer - one of my favourite TV series. I’m also an avid rugby player and golfer, and I enjoy playing the guitar.
