Dr Mohamad Ghazi Droubi is an academic leader and Chartered Engineer with extensive experience in curriculum design, quality assurance, and strategic leadership in higher education. He has held senior roles including Head of Engineering and the Built Environment, Academic Dean, and Head of Department, leading academic planning, accreditation, and the development of innovative undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programmes, including online and hybrid provision.

He has managed large academic teams and budgets, driving improvements in teaching quality, student experience, and regulatory compliance. Dr Droubi is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and currently serves as an External Examiner for engineering programmes at another UK higher education institution.

Dr Droubi provides strategic and operational leadership for the School, driving performance improvement through data-informed decision-making and cross-functional collaboration. He leads curriculum development and quality assurance, ensuring alignment with academic standards, regulatory requirements, and industry expectations.

His role includes line management of academic staff, overseeing recruitment, performance review, workload planning, and professional development. He oversees the student journey from induction to graduation, enhancing the student experience through co-creation and enrichment initiatives. He also leads the development and delivery of the School’s Business Plan in alignment with the University’s strategy and represents the School in university-wide leadership and strategic planning forums.

Research

Dr Droubi’s research focuses on non-destructive testing, condition monitoring, and renewable energy systems. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and international conferences, with strong industry engagement.
