"What most inspires me about our field is its ability to solve real-world problems through intelligent systems. The fusion of AI, distributed computing, and data analytics has the power to transform industries - from healthcare to e-commerce, and beyond."

With over 20 years of academic and industry experience, my expertise spans AI, software design and development, object-oriented programming, database systems, and web development. I mainly teach across our BSc and MSc Computer Science courses, and I also oversee these, in addition to the Cyber Security and Data Analytics programmes.
Before joining UCB, I worked at Coventry University and within the NHS, gaining valuable academic and industry experience that continues to shape my teaching and research. One of the achievements I’m most proud of is contributing to the development of undergraduate and postgraduate curricula in Computer Science, Cyber Security and Data Analytics at UCB, ensuring that students benefit from innovative, industry-relevant courses and practical research opportunities.
My research explores distributed computing, automated negotiation, fuzzy logic, cloud computing, and web services - particularly their applications in e-commerce through AI techniques. I’ve presented at international conferences, and I’m also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

My work has been recognised with multiple academic and institutional awards, including Magna Cum Laude distinctions in both my MSc and BSc studies, merit scholarships, and the Dean’s List for outstanding academic performance. At UCB, I was proud to receive the staff-nominated Unsung Hero award and student-nominated Inspirational Teacher award.
I always encourage students to see Computer Science not just as programming, but as a creative and interdisciplinary subject requiring both technical skill and strategic thinking.
What most inspires me about our field is its ability to solve real-world problems through intelligent systems. The fusion of AI, distributed computing, and data analytics has the power to transform industries - from healthcare to e-commerce, and beyond.
Students often tell me that they value the supportive and interactive learning environment I create, where I aim to break complex topics down into clear, relatable concepts. I strive to connect theory to industry practice and to provide personalised support that empowers students to gain confidence in their skills.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, keeping up with emerging trends in technology, and exploring how innovations in AI and cybersecurity are shaping our future. I also have a strong interest in creative problem-solving beyond the field of technology.
