International Business MSc, Business Administration BA

"I link topics such as teamwork, leadership, employment law and organisational behaviour to actual situations I've handled, allowing my students insight into how business really works on a daily basis."

I teach on our BTEC in Business, covering subjects such as accounting and finance, marketing, human resources and administration.

I have 15 years experience as a business lecturer in Sri Lanka's further education sector and I’ve also worked in the industry as an HR assistant. My background ensures that my students benefit from real-world workplace examples, as I link topics such as teamwork, leadership, employment law and organisational behaviour to actual situations I've handled. My students gain insight into how business really works on a daily basis and the expectations of today’s employers.

I’m constantly motivated by seeing my students grow in confidence, develop new skills and begin to understand how business theory connects to real-life practice. I find it particularly rewarding when students who initially struggle with a topic gradually gain clarity and confidence.

My students say they enjoy my classes as they're interactive, well-structured and fun. I use a mix of group work, class discussions, case studies and stories in my lessons. I always try to explain concepts clearly and offer practical feedback to all of my students.

My advice for new students is to embrace your learning and engage fully in class, manage your time effectively and aim to build lasting relationships with your peers.

I’m currently studying for my Level 5 Diploma in Teaching (FE & Skills). In my spare time, I enjoy listening to business podcasts and reading books on leadership.
