"Students should get comfortable with making mistakes - in fact, some of the most important lessons in science come through trial and error."

I’ve worked in secondary schools for over 20 years and therefore bring strong practical knowledge of experimental techniques used in science. I provide support on our Applied Science FE course. My particular expertise includes practical elements of biology, chemistry and physics.

I really enjoy seeing my students learn through hands-on experience, helping them to gain confidence in practical skills. Students should get comfortable with making mistakes - in fact, some of the most important lessons in science come through trial and error. Unexpected results can still give us useful data - it’s all part of the learning process.

There’s a lovely atmosphere at UCB for both students and staff, where everyone wants to do their best and get the best out of each other. My advice to new students is to take one day at a time and focus on mastering the basics.

When I’m not working, I enjoy staying active and spending time with my cats. I’ve also always been a fan of anything related to Lord of the Rings.
