"A common misconception is that finance is just about numbers; in reality, it’s about solving problems and making smart decisions in the real world."

My industry experience allows me to bring real-world insights directly into the classroom, making learning practical, relevant, and engaging for students. For example, I design my learning materials with the aim of preparing students for the realities of the workplace. I’m a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) curriculum, ensuring that I (and therefore my students) stay up-to-date in terms of the latest developments in the industry.
Here at UCB, I specialise in cost and management accounting, business taxation, and financial accounting, drawing on a diverse background as a Finance Assistant, curriculum developer, and consultant.
I’m proud to have contributed to academic research, with publications in the European Journal of Business and Management and the Research Journal of Finance and Accounting. These works reflect my interest in the sustainability of donor funding for NGOs and the financial management challenges faced by women-owned Small and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs).

I’m continually inspired by the power of finance and education to drive real change, whether that’s helping organisations to make sustainable decisions or equipping students with the knowledge to shape their futures. A common misconception is that finance is just about numbers; in reality, it’s about solving problems and making smart decisions in the real world.
What I enjoy most about working with students at UCB is their diverse backgrounds, fresh perspectives, and eagerness to learn. This creates a dynamic and inspiring learning environment. UCB’s welcoming and supportive community, along with its serene and well-resourced campus, makes it a wonderful place to teach and grow professionally. Seeing students grow in confidence as they develop their skills is the most rewarding part of my job. Students often say they enjoy how engaging and interactive my classes are. They appreciate my down-to-earth approach to explaining complex topics and describe the learning environment as energetic and supportive.
My advice to students is to stay curious, and also that your journey at UCB is what you make of it. Surround yourself with people who inspire you, and never be afraid to grow beyond your comfort zone. As I always say, “Success isn’t about being the smartest in the room; it’s about being the most willing to learn.”
Outside of work, I enjoy nature walks and exploring different cultures. I’m currently learning more about digital tools for content creation. I also enjoy listening to the Future Firm Accounting Podcast. And here’s a fun fact about me: I have a twin!
