"As a Former Chartered Institute of Building Trustee, I have deep knowledge of the industry’s high standards and the vital role education plays in driving progress. I’m constantly inspired by the ever-changing nature of construction."

I bring deep industry knowledge and passion for the industry to my teaching on the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Chartered Membership Programme (CMP), MSc Construction Project Management, and BSc (Hons) Construction Management courses. I’m a Chartered Surveyor, Chartered Construction Manager, Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and Fellow of both the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Chartered Institute of Building.

My expertise spans construction technology, project management, construction management, construction law, conservation, and sustainability. With a background as a Private Practice Surveyor and Client Project Manager, I offer students real-world perspectives that prepare them for the dynamic and evolving world of construction.

As a Former Trustee of the Chartered Institute of Building, I have deep knowledge of the industry’s high standards and the vital role education plays in driving progress. I’m also constantly inspired by the ever-changing nature of the construction industry.

Contrary to popular belief, our industry is not just about physical labour and hard graft - it’s a dynamic, innovative sector offering opportunities to shape our shared spaces.

Out of all of my achievements, I’m most proud of helping students fulfil their ambitions of attaining Chartered status and seeing them emerge as confident professionals in the field. The calibre of our students and the vibrancy of the university campus make teaching here especially rewarding, and I really appreciate the emphasis that’s placed on the realities of the industry. By sharing detailed, real-life examples, UCB lecturers are able to contextualise the curriculum and bridge the gap between theory and practice.

My students tell me they value the industry relevance of our lectures and the strong, supportive relationships within the cohort. I encourage my students to read widely, stay curious, and never shy away from asking questions - in fact, there’s no such thing as a silly question in my classroom.

Outside of work, you’ll find me enjoying sport, reading, and walking for pleasure.
