"I feel that as a former student, and a similar age to most, I can relate to students, and we develop really positive relationships."

My students know me as Charly, and I teach on the HE aesthetics courses. I am interested in skin treatments, and love microneedling and the results it gives. I find health and wellness and how our diet and lifestyle choices impact our skin fascinating, and problem solving people’s skin concerns is a passion of mine.
I have worked in registered CQC clinics alongside doctors, midwifes and other aesthetic practitioners, performing skin treatments and hair restoration. I have also assisted injectors alongside their work in clinic, and previously owned my own business, Neuskin, performing and looking after the business behind the scenes as well. I maintain contacts with Mesoestetic and other industry brands to ensure my knowledge is always up to date.
These experiences benefit my students as I have been in the same position as them, so can relate to how they are feeling but also guide them into best practice, and give honest advice.

Bringing confidence and growth to students when delivering treatments inspires me, but it’s important to give reassurance to clients too – especially if they have been struggling with their skin for a while. It’s a common misconception that skin conditions can be treated with a quick fix, but it is our largest organ and very complex, so I always feel it’s important to remember: "Rome wasn't built in a day."
What makes me most proud is returning to UCB as staff after studying here. It’s a real ‘full circle’ moment, and everything that I have done professionally in my career has led me here. I love seeing myself in the students and relating to their challenges and breakthroughs. I feel that as a former student and a similar age to most, I can relate to students, and we develop really positive relationships. The best advice I can give is to listen to lecturers and benefit from their experiences – and don’t leave assignments till the last minute!
Outside of work I love reading, and getting lost in books. I love authors just as Sarah J Maas, Collen Hoover, and the ACOTAR series will always be a favourite. I also have a passion for the gym and walking, and I love to cook as well. People may not know that I used to play the flute!
My favourite quote is: “Trust the timing of your life – your path has already been written.”
