After graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University with a Masters in Hospitality Management, I joined Bass Taverns’ Graduate Management Scheme. After working in hotel and restaurant management positions, I studied for a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (post compulsory education), and taught tourism and hospitality related qualifications at Further and Higher Education Colleges.
I joined University College Birmingham in 2004 and have taught on a broad range of business and management related modules from Foundation to Masters’ level. I have been a Year Manager for the BA (Hons) Hospitality and Tourism Management students since 2004 (Years 1, 2 and 3) and have been a module leader for various level 5 and 6 modules. Alongside my teaching commitments, I also supervise undergraduate dissertations and I am a placement tutor for students engaging in industrial placements.
