"With a strong foundation as a Financial Analyst and internal auditor, I bring a blend of industry expertise and academic rigour to my teaching role at UCB."

Before entering the world of academia, I worked as a Financial Analyst, internal auditor, and provided strategic financial insights to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). My interests and expertise centre around financial analysis, management accounting and performance management, with a strong focus on interpreting financial data and strategic decision-making. I’m also deeply interested in investment, particularly risk assessment, capital budgeting, portfolio management, and the functioning of financial markets. Financial regulation is also a key area of expertise for me, and I cover everything from audit and corporate governance to ethical standards and board accountability.

I’m actively engaged in the wider academic and professional community, having served as an external academic advisor, guest speaker, keynote speaker, and conference chair at a number of international events. I’m a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a member of the Chartered Management Institute (MCMI), reflecting my commitment to ongoing professional development and sector leadership.

I’m motivated by the dynamic and evolving nature of accounting and finance, particularly as technological innovations change long-standing industry practices. In fact, my research interests include emerging technologies in accounting and finance, exploring how innovations such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and fintech are transforming financial reporting and operational processes.

My teaching spans a wide range of business, accounting, and finance modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and my professional background directly enhances my teaching. In my classrooms, I try to create a stimulating and supportive learning environment where my students achieve academic success and growth, both personally and professionally. I’m committed to bridging theory and practice, ensuring students gain not only academic knowledge but also the practical capabilities (critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills) needed to thrive in today’s complex business environment. Supporting students on this journey is definitely the most rewarding aspect of my work at UCB. I’m proud to have won the Spotlight on Great Teaching Award for ‘Inspirational Teaching’.

When I’m not teaching, I enjoy reading about global financial systems and exploring how they operate across cultures. I am currently expanding my skills in data analytics and visualisation tools (such as Power BI) to better interpret and present financial data. When I need some downtime, I love to cook - especially experimenting with new cuisines.
