University College Birmingham's acclaimed training restaurant has once again been awarded the top prize from The AA College Rosette Scheme.
The AA College Rosette celebrates college restaurants with high-quality food and an exceptional delivery of service. Reflecting current industry trends within true working restaurant environments, the College Rosette mirrors the industry-recognised AA Rosette scheme.
This year’s report highly commended Restaurant at Birmingham College of Food on our attentive service, praising students’ friendliness, knowledge and confidence. The cuisine was also applauded for its first-rate cooking techniques and well-balanced flavour combinations.
Kali Davidson, Head of the Birmingham College of Food, said: “We are really pleased that we have won the Highly Commended College Rosette for a further year at the Restaurant at Birmingham College of Food.
“This is a very proud moment for staff and students in the College of Food, and we were overwhelmed with the closing remarks by the inspector on the report, which stated ‘If I had been eating in a stand-alone professional restaurant, the meal would easily have been worthy of an AA Rosette.’”

The report praised the food produced by students working in our training restaurant
The University was also previously awarded a two-year Gold Accreditation by People 1st International in 2022, the highest standard of approval from a leading industry body for specialist training for the food and hospitality sectors.
The Gold Accreditation recognises institutions delivering excellent full-time or classroom-based hospitality training and qualifications. People 1st additionally awarded the University with Centre of Excellence status for food and beverage service, patisserie and confectionery, and fish and shellfish.
