Almost 200 graduands in Hong Kong have been awarded their degrees at a graduation ceremony this summer.
Hailing from China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and Malaysia, the graduands and family and friends congregated at a ceremony at the JW Marriott Hotel that celebrated their achievements.
Presided by outgoing Chair of the Corporation Nigel Moss and opened by Vice-Chancellor and Principal Professor Michael Harkin, the ceremony awarded graduands from undergraduate and postgraduate courses in business, marketing, hospitality and tourism, culinary arts, aviation management and more.

Katharine Ovens, Deputy Director of International at University College Birmingham said: “It was fantastic to finally celebrate with our University College Birmingham graduates in Hong Kong after a long four-year break. We send a big thank you to our own University staff, Aston Institute staff and the University College Birmingham Malaysia team for making this event an enormous success. Huge congratulations to all our graduates and best wishes for your next adventure!”
A majority of the students were graduating from the Aston Institute, with Executive Director Dahlia Leng in attendance at the ceremony.
Honorary fellowships were also awarded to Winston Ningkan, Founder and Owner of UKEduNet and Phil Godwin, Director of Campus Operations at University College Birmingham.
Winston said of the award: "“I am deeply honoured to have had the opportunity to celebrate with hundreds of graduates at the recent international awards congregation in Hong Kong. I extend my gratitude to University College Birmingham for the conferment of the honorary fellowship on me.”
University College Birmingham’s support for our international students starts from the moment they hit apply and continues long after graduation. The University also recently won gold in the International category at the Whatuni Awards 2023.
