Read time: approx 1 mins
An event exploring the impact students can make on the world through new technology is to be held at University College Birmingham.
Run by Birmingham Enterprise Community (BEC), 'How to Change the World Whilst Studying' forms part of Birmingham Tech Week, a collaborative series of activities taking place across Birmingham from 7-13 October.
The event at UCB, which will be held at McIntyre House on Thursday 10 October, will feature a panel of students sharing their stories of how they have been inspired to use technology and entrepreneurship to make a real difference.
Among the guests will be biomedical engineer Reham Badawy discussing the use of smartphones to detect Parkinson's, as well as John Sewell, founder of online art dealing platform Eazyl.
Also in attendance will be Danielle Roberts, founder of Unlimited You, an online fitness platform for people with disabilities. The event will also feature an opening performance by Wesley Rolston, whose start-up business Inside the Gap: Educational Drama creates bespoke drama and poetry projects for Midlands schools, colleges and communities.
More panel guests will be announced in due course ahead of the event, which will be held in MH 129 from 6-8pm.
The evening is just one of more than 50 events taking place at 20 locations across the city for Birmingham Tech Week, with UCB among the initiative’s strategic partners alongside the likes of the West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC), Innovation Alliance and the Department for International Trade.
