Students on UCB’s FdA/BA Aviation & Airport Management courses travelled to Amsterdam in The Netherlands as part of their Aviation Passenger Operations module.
The students conducted a walk-through audit of Amsterdam Schiphol Airport as part of their assignment, evaluating key aspects of its procedures and facilities. This included examining local transport links, the airport’s check-in process, security and immigration and the retail outlets.
The purpose of the trip was for the students to consider why Schiphol airport is currently ranked by the World Airline Awards as one of the top ten in the world.
It also allowed them to see a major airport from behind-the-scenes. They were given a guided tour so that they could see some of the facilities up-close such as the airport apron, where the aircrafts are loaded and boarded, the runways, the engine-testing facilities, the private jet area and the airport fire station.
