After 20 years working in the NHS as a Physiotherapist I returned to education as a mature student studying first on an Access to Higher Education course, followed by a degree in History. During my studies at Newman, I started to work in the university Library as a Library Assistant. After graduation, I continued working at Newman and started working at a public library in Redditch, also part-time. Then I started working at a private college as the College Librarian. The college had no library, so I built the library and created a library environment and service for the staff and students.
I started at UCB in 2023 as a Senior Library Assistant and became the FE and Sixth Form Librarian in 2024. My role centres on helping L1 to L3 students with researching and referencing their assignments and directing them to reliable resources and working with academic staff to ensure that the library has the resources that the students need.
