Canvas@UCB is the university’s Virtual Learning Environment. It is a learning support system that is accessible via the internet and is used by your lecturers to offer greater flexibility in how, where and when you can access your learning. For example, as well as having access to learning and assessment materials for your programme of study, you will also be able to collaborate with fellow students and lecturers through discussion boards, blogs, wikis and group activities.
You can also access Canvas on your mobile phone by downloading the free Canvas app from your app store.
As a student you will have your own account which will give you access to the programme and modules you are studying. Each programme and module has its own course site and your lecturers will populate these sites with learning materials, activities, assessments and announcements used to communicate important messages to you.
There are many benefits to be gained from using Canvas:
- You can access resources such as lecture slides, videos, handouts, reading material, assessment information anytime and from anywhere with an internet connection.
- You can communicate with your fellow students and lecturers online through collaborative activities using discussion forums, wikis, blogs and group areas.
- You can participate in online learning activities at a time and place convenient to you.
- You can submit your assignments and view your feedback from anywhere with an internet connection.
Canvas is managed by the Digital Innovation for Creativity in Education (DICE) team. To contact the team please email email@example.com.
