Sport is big business. More people than ever understand the link between an active lifestyle and good health and are prepared to spend their income and leisure time on sport-related activities.

Sports Management is an exciting sector with a wide variety of employment opportunities in leisure centre and facility management, sports events, sports development, national governing bodies, sports coaching, sports marketing, PE teaching and health and fitness management.

One of the highlights of our course is the optional 48-week paid placement, giving you the opportunity to gain extensive industry experience before you graduate. This will give you a distinctive advantage in the job market by developing your work-ready skills. Placement opportunities are available throughout the UK and around the world, for example, Sea Pines Resort (USA) – and what’s more, you won’t incur any tuition fees during your placement year.

There are options to gain further industry accredited qualifications to enrich your studies and maximise your employability. You will participate in a ‘Leadership Week’ a residential trip with activities designed to test your potential to become a leader in sport.

Throughout the course we will encourage you to add to your skills by specialising in subjects such as Sports Coaching, Sports Marketing or Sports Psychology. When you enrol, you automatically become a student member of the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).

Students studying the FdA will have the option of progressing onto the final year of the BA (Hons).
