Phil Jensen

Husband and wife Phil and Christine will be familiar faces to many TV viewers for their amazing creations featured on the popular Channel 4 series ‘Extreme Cake Makers’. But there is more to this Cornish couple than steampunk cats, giant globes and flying fish as their company, Peboryon, now creates cakes for some of London’s leading hotels, including the Langham and Dorchester. Earlier this year, they created a cake to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Dame Esther Rantzen’s charity Childline.

Aktar Islam

Aktar Islam (professional cookery and culinary arts)

It has been a busy few years for Aktar who threw open the doors to his impressive city centre eaterie Opheem in May after turning his former restaurant Lasan into one of the ‘go-to’ places in Birmingham. TV appearances on ‘Saturday Kitchen’ and the ‘Great British Menu’ boosted the Birmingham-born chef’s reputation and his restaurant was named the best local restaurant by Gordon Ramsay on his Channel 4 series ‘The F Word’.

After graduating, Phillip launched the business in 2008 and among the awards picked over the last decade is one for this year’s best aesthetic clinic in Ireland’s hair and beauty ‘Oscars’. In addition to being the managing director of Therapie Clinics, he is also MD of Optilase which is Ireland’s largest provider of laser eye surgery.

Annie Monnox

Annie Monnox (Hospitality)

Catering General Manager at the Genting Arena

From the introduction of ‘beer bugs’ to planning events for more than 15,000 at one of Birmingham’s busiest venues, Annie’s role at the Genting Arena is anything but dull. Her level-headed approach and endless energy ensures revellers leave with smiles on their faces while at the same time she keeps an eye on the bottom line. An example of this was the arrival of 16 beer bugs which kept the drink flowing while boosting profits due to the minimal staff costs. A former Bournville schoolgirl and College of Food student, Annie previously worked at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium and the Olympic Park in London.
