Managing events is an exciting field offering considerable potential for graduates, with the UK industry estimated to be worth more than £42 billion. The events sector requires managers with a variety of skills to create the ‘wow’ factor, with career opportunities in sectors ranging from exhibitions, sporting events and festivals to wedding planning, incentive travel and resorts.

With the distinctive option of a 12-month work placement to boost your career prospects, our Events Management course will enable you to develop the skills you need to become an innovative leader who can build an exceptional event experience. This course is also accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), granting you a Level 5 CMI award in Leadership when you graduate and have access to the CMI resource platform, Management Direct.

Employability and entrepreneurship are key, providing you with in-depth knowledge and skills for events planning, financial management, project management, events marketing and risk and crisis management. You’ll also explore event design to develop your creative, communication and IT skills, giving you a comprehensive platform to launch your future career. You also gain CMI membership for the duration of your course which allows you access to a wide range of additional CMI learning resources to further support your studies. More information can be found here.

One of the highlights of our course is the 12-month paid placement, giving you the opportunity to gain extensive industry experience before you graduate. This will give you a distinctive advantage in the events management job market by developing your work-ready skills. Placement opportunities are available throughout the UK and around the world, with past students having worked in Brussels, Prague and Hong Kong – and what’s more, you won’t incur any tuition fees during your placement year. There is also the option to study the course without the placement.

Our course also gives you the chance to plan and manage your own ‘live’ event using the world’s number one specialist event management Cvent software. You will also study and experience adventure events, exploring the emerging ‘wild’ events sector provision.

Students studying the FdA will have the option of progressing onto the final year of the BA (Hons).
