Orientation and Enrolment Week

For international students, this will take place 16 - 20 September. See timetable information here.

Important information - If you have been offered a place at UCB you will be sent an online pre-registration email during the summer. You must complete your online pre-registration before you official enrolment date (this is when you come in a physically enrol). Pre-registration will enable you to check that all your personal information is accurate and up to date before you enrol.

We need to register you as a UCB student and enrol you onto your programme. Once you are registered and enrolled, for several days we will provide a series of orientation activities that will introduce you to the UK, Birmingham, UCB and your fellow students. These activities are always very popular; our international students always say how much they enjoyed the orientation activities, and how very helpful these were too.

During this week you can also register with a doctor and open a bank account.

UCB Welcome Events 2019

To help you settle in, meet new friends and start your academic year in style, we're running a series of exciting events and activities for all new and returning students on our undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Entry to all events is free - simply collect your wristband from the ground floor of McIntyre House when you enrol.

UCB Sports Day - Wednesday 25 September (1–4pm), Avery Fields

UCB's Sports Day is a great chance for you to mix with other students and get involved in the University's wider 'active' community. Kicking off at 1pm at the Avery Fields sports complex, there will be a range of sporting and fun activities – from football, rugby and American football to an inflatable assault course and rodeo challenge, while you can also grab some BBQ and watch our sports teams in action. Free shuttle buses will run both ways between UCB and Avery Fields during the day, with buses to the event available from Great Charles Street (near our Summer Row campus) from 12.15pm.

Guild of Students Freshers' Fayre and Community Day - Thursday 26 September (11.30am–3pm), McIntyre House

Discover what your student union, UCB and Birmingham has to offer at our annual Guild of Students Freshers' Fayre. There will be an array of stalls at McIntyre House from University societies and sports teams, while you can also explore part-time and voluntary work vacancies with local employers, community organisations and charities - a great chance to build your CV with the skills employers seek in our graduates. There will also be activities with free gifts and prizes up for grabs.

WelcomeFest: Street Food Festival - Friday 27 September (11.30am–3pm), McIntyre House

The grand finale to our welcome events programme, UCB is proud to present our WelcomeFest street food festival. The event at McIntyre House will feature a host of street food vendors – most of whom are former UCB students – offering a wide variety of foods, drinks and desserts with vegan and vegetarian options available. There will also be live entertainment and other activities as well as our Sports and Societies Fayre.
