Hospitality Manager Apprenticeship Level 4 (standard)

This Higher Apprenticeship is ideal for those currently working in the hospitality and catering industry, one of the UK’s biggest employment sectors. This qualification provides an excellent platform for progression for those currently working in supervisory roles within restaurants, hotels and holiday accommodation, cafés, pubs and contract catering (including schools, colleges, universities and hospitals).

The qualification is suitable for:

  • Employees in hospitality and catering who are seeking to advance their career and have the ambition to succeed
  • Employees with Level 3 qualifications who want to progress into managerial roles
  • Employees in supervisory roles seeking to progress
  • People seeking to learn while they work rather than follow a traditional higher education route

Course Content

This Level 4 apprenticeship explores the essentials of management in a hospitality environment. There are specialisms you can select in a number of areas, including: 

  • Food and beverage service management 
  • Revenue management
  • Housekeeping management 
  • Conference and events management
  • Front office management
  • Kitchen management


On successful completion of this course, students can apply for the next stages of an appropriate degree course at UCB.

Teaching and Assessment (NV)

Teaching & assessment 

An assigned assessor will discuss your needs and visit you at work. You will also attend regular sessions at UCB to enable you to understand the higher level skills and knowledge required to become a manager. You will have practical assessments, online tests and assignments during the course to prepare you for the end-point assessment.

Your personal assessor will visit you regularly in the workplace (and will be happy to see you more often if you need extra help). They will assist you throughout your training to help you achieve your qualification.

End-point assessment 

All standards require successful completion of end-point assessments graded by an approved external apprenticeship assessment organisation. In order to pass the Hospitality Manager Apprenticeship end-point assessment, you must successfully complete the following: 

  • A multi-choice questionnaire 
  • A written business project   
  • A professional discussion 
Entry Requirements (NV)

Entry requirements

You need to be over 18 years of age and have previous experience of working in the hospitality sector.

You will already be working a minimum of 30 hours per week in an appropriate role

You will normally require a Level 3 qualification and a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 4 (grade C) or above, including maths and English.

If you do not have a grade 4 (grade C) or above in English and maths, you need to complete Level 2 Functional Skills before entry onto the course.
