Today, we begin a new era, but we will not forget Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. All of our thoughts go out to members of the Royal Family at this sad time. The Queen has been a constant, a beacon through an ocean of storms, as well as times of great joy. I'll never forget listening to her message to the nation on the wireless at the start of Covid, so comforting, so inspiring, so hopeful. My family even let me have 'Brit' in our game of Scrabble that evening, we were all so moved. It feels strange that she is no longer with us, I'll miss her. A true constant in an ever changing world. I write this in grateful thanks for a life lived in service and dedication to the people of this country and the Commonwealth. Your Christian faith was strong and you sought to live a Christian life, unapologetically and to the good of all. I will never forget your Christmas messages to the nation. This feature of my Christmas Day will be one much missed. Your life was long and it is difficult to put into words what you meant to me and to this country. I simply say: thank you. Thank you for your words of comfort in difficult times. Thank you for your steadfast and loyal service. Thank you for your advocacy of our great country, in good times and in bad. Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, served for over 70 years with grace, respect, dignity, selfless duty, a twinkle in her eye and a ‘marmalade sandwich’ in her handbag.
