Why choose UCB?

Apprenticeships are one of our key strengths at UCB.

Part of this is supporting you on your whole journey, from attracting the right apprentice to successful completion of a programme.

To ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible from start to finish, you will be allocated a dedicated apprenticeship adviser, while our flexible approach is designed to ensure that employing an apprentice is straight-forward and will benefit, not disrupt, your business.

The added advantage of our programmes is that apprentices have the opportunity to progress through the course levels if it will benefit the job role.

They can even pursue a degree course at UCB in the future.

An employer’s story – Sandwell Park Farm’s award-winning tea rooms

“I was apprehensive about having an apprentice, but Jenny is absolutely incredible and, eight months into her year-long apprenticeship, she has become such an important part of our team. To start with, she was very quiet and shy, but it soon became clear that she was a very quick learner. One of the first things I did was brief her on the many different questions customers might ask, and when I pretended to be the customer, she was word perfect straight away.

“We also discovered she is something of a baking expert, her cakes being the best I’ve ever tasted, so we gave her a far bigger role in the baking here. Within months, she was preparing and serving hundreds of three-course lunches for visiting Crufts Dog Show judges, catering for up to 2,000 people on Bank Holidays, and is now running her own unit on the site. She is absolutely brilliant and we don’t want to lose her.

“What I’d say to employers considering an apprentice is that while it’s great to be a part of bringing young blood through, it can also benefit your business enormously. The UCB team is also brilliant, regularly coming out to see me. Can’t fault them.”
