My working career started in west Wales with Lloyds Bank before moving to Birmingham in the mid-1980s. A change of career saw me working for the Midlands-based brewer Ansells (part of Allied Domecq) within their pub-restaurant brand, Porterhouse, before joining University College Birmingham in the mid-1990s.
I teach across a range of food, beverage and facilities management-based modules in addition to the Managing Pub and Bar Operations option module
Research interests and scholarly activity
My main area of research is around the pub retailing sector and I have been successful in having articles published in the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management and the British Food Journal. Participation in conferences has included those held by CHME and University College Birmingham.
