I have always had a passion and involvement in sport from a young age, taking part in a variety of sports. During my teenage years I became actively involved in weight training as well as Judo, achieving my 1st Dan (black belt) after several years of dedication. During college I particularly enjoyed learning about the muscular system and the science involved in sport, as I found it particularly interesting with regards to my own weight training. I progressed this further in this field, choosing to study a degree in Sport & Exercise Science. As well as my enthusiasm for sport I have always been passionate in helping others to progress and have worked in different sport settings such as the leisure sector and coaching. In addition to this I enjoy outdoor activities such as skiing and scuba diving. I have worked in a selection of further education and higher education establishments across the midlands, teaching foundation stage up to higher education. I have mainly been involved in teaching all areas of sport although I have also taught physical training for those interested in a career in the military.

Research interests and scholarly activity
I am particularly interested in developing my understanding of the training concepts and nutrition involved in the fitness industry as there are many different ideas and contrasting arguments into what protocols should be followed. I always do research by reading articles and looking through journals to develop a deeper understanding.
I am currently actively involved in Judo, developing my skills in preparation for national competitions, as well as my bodybuilding, as I am planning to compete for a 2nd time next year.
