I spent nearly ten years travelling the world working on board cruise ships and have lived in the Netherlands, Australia the USA and have visited nearly 100 countries having worked on a variety of cruise lines. Previous UK employers include a tour operator, travel agent, Marketing and Advertising, to a Computer Systems & Software Development global organisation. Travelling and experiencing different cultures is one of the greatest catalysts to improve one’s knowledge, skills and personal attributes. Travel provides an insight into how other countries operate, communicate and develop within the global market. Such exposure, in line with academic development are essential ingredients to have in today’s competitive market. I am currently Year Manager and lecturer on Further Education BTEC Extended Diploma in Travel &Tourism and also teach on Higher Education undergraduate programmes such as, Aviation & Airport Management BA (Hons) and Tourism Business Management BA (Hons) and am the Module Leader for Cruise Operations (Level 5).
