I originally studied Economics. I then moved into sales and marketing for May and Baker Plc., a major chemical company as an Area Manager. In 1986, I joined The Hamilton Paper Company where I was Sales and Marketing Manager and amongst other things pioneered the manufacture of paper rolls for the booming facsimile machine market at the time. After 16 years working in industry I moved into education in 1994 gaining a position as a lecturer in Business at Sandwell College teaching predominantly HND/HNC Business Studies and professional courses, at the same time gaining a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. I joined University College Birmingham in 2004. I specialise in teaching all aspects of Marketing and I am currently engaged in branding research examining the influence of social media on brand equity. I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Marketing Research, Marketing Strategy, Branding, Operational Sales. I have taught the above subjects on both undergraduate and postgraduate Marketing programmes (levels 5-7) and have also taught modules on the MBA and MSc Tourism Management programmes.
