I left college in 1988 with a BA (Hons) degree in ‘Scientific and Technical Graphics’. For the next three years I worked as a graphic designer for a design agency followed by six years as head of studio for a major educational publisher.

During this period I completed the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s post-graduate diploma in marketing which led to thirteen years in account management for several of the midlands largest marketing agencies with brands such as Jaguar/Landrover, MG Rover, GlaxoSmithKline (Lucozade, Sensodyne, Pronamel), Tuborg and Hyundai.

After a further five years spent commercialising intellectual property generated by academics within Birmingham City University I completed a Post-graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and joined UCB.
