I trained as an N.N.E.B and worked in a number of roles ranging from a nannie in Canada, a nursery nurse in a number of Local Authority nurseries, a special school working with children with visual impairment and as a teaching assistant in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

It was while working as a teaching assistant that I began undertaking my qualifications to enable me to become a teacher in Further Education and then secured my first teaching post.

I teach and assesses on the Level 2 and 3 Early Educator courses. I am also the Lead Internal Quality Assurer for these courses ensuring that the college meets the rigorous requirements of the Awarding Organisation.


Theories and types of play, theories of how children learn and develop, the Early Year’s Foundation Stage curriculum, observation and assessment of children’s learning and children’s growth and development.

Research interests and scholarly activity

My particular areas of interests are theories of how children learn and develop, play and its benefits to children as well as other curriculum models and philosophies.
