Profile
I have worked as a freelancer in the prosthetic make-up industry for 12 years, being lucky enough to work on high profile television productions such as multiple series of the BBC’s Doctor Who, BBC’s Atlantis, Patient Zero, Being Human and Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. As part of a team, I also produced silicone prosthetics for Lady Gaga’s ‘Born this Way’ music video and for the theatrical productions of The Phantom of the Opera and its sequel, Love Never Dies.
Also as part of a prosthetics team, I very much enjoyed creating realistic prosthetics and props on some medical television dramas such as Bodies and Critical. Credited for my prosthetics work on Season 5 and Season 6 of HBO’s Game of Thrones, it was an honour to be awarded two Emmy Award Certificates for my contribution of work to the television programme.
I have also been fortunate to work in the prosthetics department on a number of films including Inkheart, The Wolfman, Frankenstein, Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy, Dracula Untold, Disney’s Tarzan and Heart of the Sea.
Being inspired by the legendary Dick Smith and Neill Gorton in regards to the education of prosthetic make-up techniques, I have always had a strong interest in teaching and learning. I completed a teacher’s qualification alongside working in the industry, knowing that I would ultimately like to share my knowledge with future generations of make-up artists. I now enjoy teaching on BA (Hons)/FdA Specialist Hair and Media Make-up and have advanced upon my existing teacher’s qualification, recently completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Vocational Subjects with Distinction.
