Profile

I worked as a freelancer in the prosthetic make-up industry for 12 years, being lucky enough to work on high profile tv productions such as BBC’s Doctor Who, BBC’s Atlantis, Patient Zero, Being Human and Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. As part of a team, I also produced silicone prosthetics for Lady Gaga’s ‘Born this Way’ music video and for theatrical productions of The Phantom of the Opera and it's sequel, Love Never Dies.

As part of a prosthetics team, I very much enjoyed creating realistic prosthetics and props on some medical television dramas such as Bodies and Critical. Credited for my prosthetics work on Season 5 and Season 6 of HBO’s Game of Thrones, it was an honour to be awarded two Emmy Award Certificates for my contribution of work to the television programme. I have also been fortunate to work in the prosthetics department on a number of films including Inkheart, The Wolfman, Frankenstein, Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy, Dracula Untold & Disney’s Tarzan.

Being inspired by the legendary Dick Smith and Neill Gorton in regards to the education of prosthetic make-up techniques, I have always had a strong interest in teaching and learning. I taught BA(Hons) Specialist Hair & Media Make-up for 5 years, until I played a key role in developing a MA programme specialising in Prosthetics for Film and Television. I continue to enjoy sharing my knowledge with future generations of prosthetic technicians having worked at University College Birmingham for 8 years.
