Read time: approx 1 mins

Students at UCB have recently launched a brand new Travel and Tourism Society.  With it's aim to 'deliver a student-led tourism society for the benefit of students' the society held a formal launch at University College Birmingham.

The objectives of the society include enhancing relationships between students, networking and liaison with tourism industry professionals, enhancing career development and providing students the opportunity to get the most out of their university experience.

The society will hold weekly meetings to discuss 'hot' tourism topics, brainstorm current events, watch films and welcome guest speakers.  Monthly activities will include visiting museums and tourist attractions across the UK and hopefully beyond.

The first industry speaker from the Travel and Tourism Society was Greg Yeoman, Executive Director of the Tourism Society who spoke to the society about how students can get involved in the wider tourism community and his personal observations about getting involved in the industry.

The Society is open to all students interested in tourism at UCB.
