Mondelēz is choc-a-bloc with opportunities for bakery students

Professional Bakery students channelled their inner chocolatier during a visit from global snacking powerhouse Mondelēz International.
Mondelēz gave an in-depth presentation on their business to bakery students. It invited them to attend its Chocolate Technical Academy which will take place in 2015 and announced that it is looking for two UCB students to do two-year apprenticeships in chocolate research and development.
The Mondelēz International Technical Academy, open to all Level 2 Professional Bakery students, is a two-week long intensive activity and learning programme delivered from its global chocolate research and development HQ in Bournville. This academy will provide students with a deeper understanding of how the business works and give a greater insight into the world of chocolate research and development. They will also learn advanced technical skills and be shown the various development areas across process, product and packaging whilst taking part in a project to stretch their creativity and apply the knowledge and skills they have been taught.
Warwick Emmett, Pilot Plant Group Leader at Mondelēz International, said: “The Technical Academy is a feeder programme for our two-year Chocolate Research and Development Apprenticeship launching in September. This programme will provide a number of the most dedicated and passionate Academy students with a role as a chocolate technician within our Pilot Plant Production Team.
“Whilst here, our in-house experts will provide students with an in-depth training programme to gain all the technical skills and knowledge to become a fully trained chocolatier and confectioner. They will also gain a better understanding of product development and how the business works as a whole. We believe our challenging and exciting programme will provide students with a great opportunity to launch their career in the food industry.”
Interviews for the 2014-16 Chocolate Research and Development Apprenticeships are being held on Monday 23rd June.
