Members of UCB’s culinary team were congratulated on their triumph at a prestigious national competition by the University’s governors.

UCB won a total of 34 awards across bakery, chef and front of house disciplines at Salon Culinaire at Hotelympia, London, and the medal haul was displayed for governors to inspect in the award-winning Brasserie restaurant.

UCB Culinary Team Manager and chef lecturer Mathew Shropshall said: “UCB is very proud of all the students from bakery, food service and chef courses who competed at the British Open Cookery Championships in London. The additional work and travel paid off with UCB students sweeping the board with first, second and third places against the best in the country.

“The students are a credit to their families and mentors. A big thank you goes to Sandra Brown, Nick Williams, Gary Goldsmith, Dawn Gemmell, Andrew Bisconti, UCB Stores and the students’ mentors for all of their support.”
