1996

UCB is named the best college in the country by the Further Education Funding Council.  

1998

Receives the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education for education and training in the hospitality and tourism industries. The citation praises UCB as a “centre of excellence… It is an exemplar of what can be achieved through close working between industry and education to maintain the highest standards in a key international industry.”  

2006

UCB gains “outstanding in all areas of provision” by Ofsted – the first time the feat is recorded by a general FE College. 

2006

Awarded Beacon status, marking excellence and innovation in the learning and skills sector. 

2007

UCB is granted taught degree awarding powers by the Privy Council. 

2012

UCB is again judged Grade 1 Outstanding in 2012. 

2012

Granted full University Title by the Privy Council. 

2014

Awarded Investors in People Gold Accreditation for the management and development of staff.

2015 

Hospitality Assured 2015 prize for “Most Innovative Use of the Standard Award” – providing consistency and quality across the multitude of services provided by the University.
