Erasmus Exchange Programmes

History of the Erasmus Programme

The Erasmus programme is named after a Dutch humanist and theologian, Erasmus of Rotterdam (1466 - 1536) and is the European Commission's programme for Higher Education and HE/FE students, teachers and institutions. It was introduced in 1987 with the aim of increasing student mobility within the European Community, subsequently including the European Economic Area countries and the Candidate Country of Turkey.

How you can get involved

With Erasmus, UCB students can study for 3-12 months in a partner institution and students from those institutions can do the same here at UCB.

Alternatively, UCB students can undertake an International exchange programme with a partner institution in Australia, China, Thailand and the USA.

You can find a full list of our partner institutions here.

Valentine Basile is the Erasmus and International Exchange Co-ordinator at UCB
