ALG Transitional Scheme (2011/12 Academic Year, only for progressing students)

Those students who were eligible for assistance through ALG in 2010/2011 and are progressing to the final stage of their programme of study at the same level as last year (i.e. BTEC National Diploma) may be eligible to receive payments throughout the 2011/12 academic year.  See the ALG Transitional Scheme Guidance Document for more information.

The UCB FE 19+ Bursary Scheme (only for new applicants) is split into two main categories

 ‘Discretionary’ Bursary Scheme (DBS)

Administered by the EMA Team, in liaison with the Student Services department, - Those students aged 19 and over, whose household income is less than £20,817 per annum, and who satisfy strict attendance and behaviour criteria may be eligible for Bursary payments of £20 per week up to a value £720 over the academic year.  Please contact the EMA Team on 0121 232 4179 or see the DBS Student Guidance document for further information about this scheme.

 ‘Hardship’ Bursary

Administered solely by the Student Services department - Those students whose household income falls between £20,817 and £30,810 are eligible to apply for specific ‘hardship’ support, although the provision of actual support, or its level, cannot be guaranteed.

PLEASE NOTE:  All financial support given under the new Bursary scheme is to support students in their studies at UCB (e.g. to cover travel costs and basic course materials etc.). This is the first year that the scheme is in operation and how it will be presented in subsequent years cannot be guaranteed at this stage.
