Student Profile - Tulshi Naik

MSc Hospitality Tourism Management

I am originally from Gujarat, the City of Surat.

I completed my undergraduate studies in accountancy in India then came to the UK to study the hospitality industry, I started with a NVQ Level 3 Diploma at Chichester College then whilst looking round at where to study next some friends studying in Birmingham suggested I come here and look at the opportunities available. I liked what I saw in Birmingham and after much deliberation decided that UCB was the institution for me, coming to an open day really helped me to make that decision.

I really like the city, on a practical level accommodation and transport is much cheaper than other parts of the UK and it is easy to get a part-time job, I work at the Marriott Hotel as a Food and Beverage Supervisor, normally working 2 nights a week.

The tutors are really helpful, I can email them with any questions I have and they normally respond right away, this is on top of regular tutorials.

I am about to start my dissertation, returning home to Gujarat for 2 months to do my preliminary research then coming back to Birmingham to write it. I am going to investigate the potential for cultural tourism in my home region in India and hopefully the little idea I have in the back of my head will come to bloom when I finish my course.
