Student Profile - Karen Chorley

"I had always worked in Hospitality and had a real interest in it, despite initially studying Law and Psychology at A’Level. I chose to come to UCB to study the BTEC National Diploma in Hospitality.

I had some great experiences whilst at UCB. I worked as a waitress at a Portuguese hotel which really helped improve my hospitality and language skills. In the UK I got the chance to work at Turners in Harborne, Birmingham which is a Michelin Star restaurant; giving me an invaluable experience and a great entry on my CV. Going forward I’m hoping to stay at UCB to continue my studies and have applied to do a Hospitality Business Management degree.

I found that through my course I have learnt skills for everyday life and in the future I hope that the combination of all these skills will help me own and run my restaurant."
