Student Profile - Kaleem Hussain

"I’m a local student from Birmingham and started at University College Birmingham studying a BTEC in Travel and Tourism, I have a real passion for Tourism having studied it for 5 years now. I want to go into a management position within the airline industry, although I’d like to do a Masters first here at UCB, to gain a broader knowledge of the industry.

I appreciate the way that lectures are followed by independent study, but the lecturers are on hand if you require assistance. There are lots of International students on the course and it’s interesting to get an international perspective on Tourism.

We’ve been on a two day residential trip, first we had a tour of tourist sites in Cheshire then to Manchester for a two night stay with the services of a tour guide; once back in Birmingham the trip was the basis of an assignment. In the 2nd year there will be a European trip followed by one to North America in the final year."
