Student Profile - Julia Lepina
BA Hospitality and Tourism Management
I heard about University College Birmingham through an agent in Estonia, they held a 3 day trip to visit Birmingham for an Open Day. When I returned to Estonia I decided that the institution was nice and it was where I wanted to study. I wasn't sure about living in a big city like Birmingham at first but now I really like it, I feel really welcome here not just in UCB but in the UK as well.
As for my course, we have a lot of practical sessions on how to prepare food, how to deal with customers and there is 1 year placement after the 2nd year where I will be able to pick up even more practical skills.
I have some really good classmates who are ready to help you all the time and I can always go to one of the study support workshop if I have any misunderstandings. The house where I live in Birmingham is nice, it's not far from the city centre but anyway, in Birmingham there is a good transportation system, so I get can anywhere I want easily.
